A Couponer’s Valentine’s Day

This year our family has begun a new tradition: Celebrating Valentine’s day on the 16th!  Why on earth would we do that??

The reason is simple… we didn’t buy ANY Valentine’s day items until the day AFTER!

Yesterday on the 15th we bought an assortment of candy:Reese’s Peanut Butter Hearts, Snicker’s Heart, Chocolate Roses, Boxed Chocolates, and more for 50% off. Most of these were just 50 cents!

We also bought Valentine’s day items like table cloths, a fondu set, a heart filled cake maker, blankets and pillows, tissue paper, bath salts, soaps, chip clips shaped like lips, fuzzy purses, and more from 50% to 90% off.

The real fun, however… was when we surprised the rest of the family throughout the day today.

At breakfast… the kids (two girls age 9 and 11) received their Valentine’s day card along with a small bear with heart shaped lollipops. We gave our husbands some romantic coupons and a bamboo plant (yes.. it was a Valentine’s day item at 50% off!)

Then for lunch, we gave the girls stuffed purses full of Snicker’s Hearts, a glamorous nail file, and lip gloss. We gave our hubby’s the chocolate roses.

Lastly.. at dinner time, the girls were surprised with the pillows and blankets, boxed chocolates, and home made heart shaped pancakes. The men got the peanut butter hearts.

All in all we had a very good time! The rest of the family agreed that we would much rather celebrate Valentine’s day throughout the whole day.
